Monsignor Rolando Álvarez was immediately sentenced to 26 years in prison, lost his nationality, and was dispossessed of the assets seized from him as evidence. In addition, they imposed a fine of 58,000 córdobas (USD 1,500), an amount the dictatorship assured would be used to improve the Nicaraguan penitentiary system (sic).
