Fentanyl is your problem, says AMLO to the United States
Despite overwhelming proof, the president of Mexico said that his country neither produces nor uses fentanyl. In contrast, López Obrador referred to the synthetic opioid pandemic as a US problem
His remarks were made while White House National Security Advisor Liz Sherwood-Randall was in Mexico to discuss the fentanyl epidemic. Additionally, it coincides with demands from some US Republicans to strike drug labs in Mexico using US military force. "Fentanyl is not produced or used in this country," according to López Obrador. "Why don't they (the United States) deal with their social degeneration issue?"
The Cuban government is "desperate" to appease the United States, but the Vatican's mediation is cautious this time.
