In Nicaragua, there has been an increase in arrests and intimidation of priests and parishioners
The police have intensified their siege on parishes in the dioceses of Estelí and Matagalpa.
Parishioners are being investigated and must inform the police when they leave their communes. In addition, six priests have been arrested in the past nine days. The shortage of priests has led to changes in Mass schedules, with lay people now conducting celebrations of the Word without being able to celebrate the Eucharist. This situation mainly affects the northern regions of Nueva Segovia, Madriz, and Estelí.
