Seventy-two votes were in favor of dismissing the current presidency vs. 23 votes. This decision effectively ends Guaidó's four-year leadership of the most significant threat to the all-powerful Bolivarian revolution. It also provides Nicolás Maduro with a new opportunity to bolster his plan for international recognition. One of the Voluntad Popular lawmakers protested, "We are sending Guaidó's head to Maduro."
