Lula: Dilma Rousseff will lead the BRICS Bank in China
The Brazilian former president will manage the New Development Bank of the group created by Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. Lula will fly to Beijing with her in the second half of March
Based in Shanghai, the NDB-also known as the "BRICS bank"-aims to finance infrastructure and sustainability projects. Lula will fly to Beijing in the second half of March and take Dilma with him on the trip. The former president's selection to helm the NDB already has the backing of BRICS members. Lula has requested diplomat Marcos Troyjo, the current NDB chairman, to stand down as head of the institution. Appointed by Bolsonaro, Troyjo had a term until 2025 and has already returned to Brazil. The former president, impeached in 2016, has never held any governmental roles since then.
