Media's bizarre enthusiasm for Lula at Cop27
The Brazilian president who has deforested more Amazonia than Bolsonaro arrives at the UN climate summit aboard the jet of a convict. But the media treat him as the new Greta. My analysis here
Brazilian President-elect Lula held an election rally at the Cop27 UN conference on the environment, which the Italian media praised as being unlike anything is seen before. Even Corriere della Sera correspondent Sara Gandolfi referred to him as "an ancient rock star who still fills stadiums and doesn't make modern rappers regret it" in her headline from yesterday, "Lula star on climate."
