Blockades have been isolating the area of Madre de Dios for days. There are ten sites where the Interoceanic Highway is obstructed, where most of the economy's revenue comes from. Its capital, Puerto Maldonado, is encircled and remote. The more than 85,000 residents may even run out of drinking water in a few days and are without fuel, gas, fruits, or vegetables in the markets, public transportation, or money at ATMs.
