The year's first half recorded a GDP increase of 12.3 percent. It happened after nine years of economic misery preceded by a decade of drift brought on by Hugo Chavez's 21st-century socialism. The increase is especially true given that the assessment comes from an independent group, the Observatory of Venezuelan Finance.
