Six priests have now been sentenced in Nicaragua
In the prosecution of the six priests and one layperson who accompanied Monsignor Rolando Alvarez during the 15-day kidnapping in the Matagalpa curia in 2022, Ortega justice imposes secrecy
Before the Ortega judge ruled the priests guilty, they cited Scripture. The priests that were found guilty by Ortega's justice are Ramiro Tijerino Chavez, the rector of Juan Pablo II University, a 50-year-old priest with 20 years of experience. He has diabetes and hypertension. He is also the grandson of Doris Tijerino, a former Sandinista insurgent. Then there is Deacon Raul Antonio Vega, priests Darvin Leiva Mendoza and Melkin Centeno, Father Jose Luis Diaz Cruz, vicar of Matagalpa Cathedral, and his predecessor Sadiel Antonio Eugarrios Cano.
