Western Union has begun using a regime-owned company to send money to Cuba
It is called Orbit, it was established by the Cuban government in 2022 to substitute sanctioned Fintimex, tied to the regime's military company, Gaesa but the employees that work for it are the same
Western Union, a US firm, has more than 4,400 locations throughout the 50 states and has begun transmitting money to Cuba. The receiver of remittances may get the funds at the Metropolitano, BPA, and BANDEC regime banks immediately into their foreign currency bank accounts. One American can send up to $2,000 at once. Following Trump's sanctions against two banking organizations that processed remittances, Fincimex and AIS, tied to the regime's military company, Gaesa, Western Union fled the island. The organization established by the Cuban government in February 2022 that permits the management of remittances to the island is now Orbit SA. The Fincimex facilities are adjacent to Orbit's office in Havana, and now Fincimex employees work for Orbit.
